Music For the Season
Music of the Season - beautiful, evocative music for the holiday season created by three living composers - Tina Davidson, Simon Andrews and Adrienne Albert - for the talents of the Newstead Trio.
Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49 and Piano Trio No. 2 in C minor, Op. 66 This recording was released in 2009 to commemorate the bicentenary of Mendelssohn’s birth. Mendelssohn’s trios are both youthful and mature. The composer’s sense of drama and gift for color are exemplified throughout these works.
Trio in B flat K. 502, Trio in G K. 496 and Trio in C K. 548. The three trios featured on this recording have become some of the most artistically fulfilling works to prepare for performance. Of Mozart’s Piano Trios, these are currently our preferred. “This disc represents among the very finest trio recordings I’ve ever heard; their playing of this oft-recorded Mozart repertory is peerless.”- Tom Gibbs, Audiophile Audition
Works by Astor Piazzolla, Ping Jin, Joseph Suk and Julia Smith. For us, the works on this recording represent “soul” music. All of these compositions were carefully selected to celebrate our tenth anniversary as a performing ensemble. These pieces, in all their diversity, speak to each one of us in a special and satisfying way. They are a pleasure to perform. “Evocative and Expressive” Fanfare
Dvorak’s Trio in E minor, Op. 90 (“Dumky”). Shoenfield’s Café Music and Robert Starer’s Episodes. Warmth, passion, energy and depth of expression describe the performances of the diversely spirited works on this recording.
The Trio's debut album features many of their favorites from around the world including works of Mendelsohn, Clarke, and Jin. Very rich and enjoyable.
